Why practice

What is Tai Chi?

Tai Chi was originally developed for self defense and martial arts but eventually grew into a health and wellness practice. Your breath, movement, and awareness work together when you learn and practice each kata (a detailed choreographed pattern of movements). As you move slowly and fluidly through different positions, you are asked to breathe deeply and focus your attention. Tai Chi is a very meditative exercise. It is practiced slowly and mindfully. Practicing Tai Chi regularly has many benefits (see below for more detail regarding benefits).

What is Qigong?

Known primarily as “meditation in motion” Qigong is a system of coordinated body postures and movements, breathing, and meditation. It coordinates slow-flowing movements, deep rhythmic breathing, and a calm meditative state of mind. Qigong is not a Martial Art, but rather is practiced for exercise, relaxation, preventative medicine, and self healing. Qigong is great for people of all ages and abilities. (See below for more specific benefits.)
